Popular Diets - FACTS!

Most Popular Diets and Weight Loss Programs on the market today have some common flaws. We will expand on two of them:

Fact 1

Most popular diets and weight loss programs have a 'One-Size-Fits-All' approach. In other words, all participants will receive exactly the same diet, eat exactly the same food in exactly the same quantities, and get the same support and guidance (if any). This approach fails because some people will lose the weight, but most people won't! These diets and weight loss programs are NOT individualized, and do NOT take your medical history (which might include dietary needs if you are diabetic for example, existing medical conditions, post-surgical precautions etc.) into account. They actually can be dangerous!

Fact 2

Most of these diets and programs are very Un-Healthy! They focus on or eliminate a certain food group (e.g. Atkins promotes meat consumption and limits carbohydrates); which in turn 'tricks' the body and weight loss is accomplished. However, this un-healthy approach emphasizes an un-balanced diet; and many times a low-calorie intake.

Low-calorie intake diets are what we label as 'yo-yo' diets because people regain weight immediately after stopping their diet. Why? Our body needs a certain amount of calories to sustain life. If we provide our body with less calories than needed, our body will retrieve the shortage by breaking down our own tissue (for example, breakdown of protein from our own muscles). You will lose weight (just as you would when you starve yourself), but you will regain it fast (and more... because the body will build more reserves now for times of starvation) after you stop the diet!

Why do a Body Composition Analysis (BCA)?

The BCA allows us to accurately identify multiple health parameters, including percent of body fat (PBF), segmental lean muscle mass (arms, legs, trunk), intra-and extracellular water balance, BMI, and much more. With this information we will establish the client's goals and we will be able to monitor progress; and if necessary modify our plan of action.

The BCA also will give us the information required to develop a personal exercise regimen.

What are the Benefits of a Physician Supervised program?

Most diets and weight loss programs do not take into account a person's medical history (medical conditions, diseases, dietary needs, contra-indications to certain foods, supplements or ingredients, ability to perform exercises, post-surgical precautions etc.).

Also, your physician will closely monitor your progress and modify the program if indicated.

Can you tell me more about the diet?

Most diets are a one-size-fits-all approach, meaning that all participants get exactly the same diet, instructions and guidelines. Some people will respond to this method, others will not.

Our approach is unique in that we take a sample of blood and sent it to the lab. Your diet is designed based on your individual laboratory test results. Therefore, no two diets are the same and ALL clients lose an average of 2 lbs/week.

How does this diet work then?

Your blood is tested for what they call "Delayed Food Allergies". Certain foods that you consume cause metabolic and hormonal imbalances in your body, which you are unaware of. By eliminating these foods out of your diet, your metabolism is restored to optimal, and pounds are shed.

Is the diet difficult to follow? What's your compliance rate?

We have close to a 100% compliance rate. This is unheard of! Here's why:

  1. We do NOT instruct clients to eat less (you eat as much as you want; we assume you will not consume more food than prior to starting the weight loss program);
  2. clients can eat what they want (feel free to eat what you like; we do not tell people to eat certain foods they might not like);
  3. except the foods listed on the laboratory test result sheet (certain foods need to be eliminated from your diet to restore your metabolism).

Is this a Healthy diet?

Our diet is based on your laboratory test results and restores balance of your metabolism. We are concerned with your health! By restoring your optimal body composition, we can prevent complications associated with excess weight and obesity.

Not only will you lose weight the healthy way; but many medical complications such as diabetes, arthritis and other degenerative diseases, cancers, cardio-vascular diseases, stroke, Alzheimer and many more can be prevented.

Most diets are un-healthy because they are un-balanced; they focus on a certain food group (example Atkins emphasis the consumption of meat and eliminate carbohydrates) and therefore 'trick' the body in losing weight. Other diets emphasize low calorie intake, which again is a un-healthy approach because when your body needs a certain amount of calories to function properly. When insufficient calories are consumed, the body will be forced to break down its own tissue (e.g. retrieve protein from muscles) to survive. In both cases, an un-healthy approach often leads to weight loss while on the diet and weight gain while off the diet.

I don't like to Exercise. Is Exercise part of the program?

Yes, it is. However, we design an personal exercise regimen based on your Body Composition Analysis (BCA). Some clients have excess body fat but have lean muscle mass within normal/optimal limits. The exercise regimen for these clients will emphasize 'burning' body fat through cardio-vascular exercise and strength training (increased muscle mass will increase metabolism and therefore 'burn' more fat). Other clients have excess body fat and also a lean body mass below normal limits. Focus will be on more on gaining muscle mass in the indicated segments (arms, legs, trunk).

Will I regain weight after I finish this program?
